Network structure

The workgroup is composed by professionals from three areas: Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, Medicine, specifically Gynecology and Obstetrics, and Nutrition Sciences. These are both national and foreign researchers of recognized prestige. We believe that having researchers in these fields allows us a broad and ambitious approach to the care and improvement of the well-being of pregnant population and their future children.

Since the professionals of the health sector carry out their professional activity in public hospitals in the Madrid area, the Network has the possibility of intervening directly with the pregnant population in these health centers, which ensures a high adherence of the participants and represents a key factor for the success of the studies.

In addition, the absolute disposition of the health entities to obtain the clinical data of the studied pregnant exists, which together with the aforementioned adherence are relevant factors for the proper development of experimental studies, especially Randomized Clinical Trials. Therefore an efficient transfer of the results of the research to the pregnant population as well as to the professional groups responsible for the health care will be achieve.

Regarding participating universities, we believe that the researcha and innovation potential of three major universities of Madrid (Politécnica, Complutense y Autónoma) together with the commitment of universities and researchers of relevance in the same subject from Argentina, Canada, China, United States, Norway , Portugal and Sweden, offer to the project the necessary strength and ensure a high scientific-technical and international impact of the results of our Network.
